The
Elementary Grades 1-6 also work together in a Montessori environment using
advanced Montessori materials. Students are exposed to situations that aid
them in developing communication skills,
fundamental motivation, spontaneous activity and self-education.
Maria Montessori characterizes the six to twelve year old child, as being in the second plane of development. It is now the age of reason. In the first six years, the facts are important and necessary to adapting to the environment. At the elementary age, the child is deeply interested in the why and how of everything.
A vast Elementary curriculum covers:
• Mathematics
• Geometry
• Algebra
• Reading & Writing
• Literature
• Grammar
• Geography
• Zoology
• Botany
• Chemistry
• Geology
• Astronomy
• Music
• Art
• Drama
• Physical Education & Sports

The Montessori teacher is there to present the materials to the child individually or in small groups according to the child's needs and development. The elementary age is also where the moral foundation is set into place and the children learn to be responsible for their actions.
In addition, every year the students are given standardized tests that helps us to determine their working level in each basic academic area. Parents receive a copy of these test scores and we retain a copy in our student files.
